Everything Shiny finds

One scan of your photo library covers most of these, and later scans only look at what's new. Every result is free to see. Nothing is deleted until you review it and confirm.

Duplicate photos

Shiny compares photos by how they look, not by file name, so it finds exact copies and near-identical shots: the same moment taken twice, or a photo you saved again from a chat.

Each group suggests one photo to keep: a favourite, an edited one, the highest resolution or the newest. You can pick a different one.
Compare a group side by side, with the albums each photo is in.
Go through groups one at a time: Confirm, Not duplicates or Skip. Groups you mark as not duplicates don't come back.
Burst photos are left alone.

Similar screenshots

Screenshots of the same screen taken on the same day are grouped, ignoring the status bar, so a different time or battery level doesn't hide a match. The newest one is kept by default.

A separate list shows screenshots older than 30, 90 or 365 days.

Blurry and accidental shots

Shiny scores how sharp each photo is and lists the blurry ones. It also finds accidental shots that came out almost black or almost white, like a photo taken in a pocket.

Choose how strict it is: Strict, Normal or Loose.

Videos

Videos usually take the most space, so Shiny shows the largest first.

Filter large videos by size and age.
Duplicate videos are found by comparing their frames, not just their length.
Slow-motion videos, time-lapses and screen recordings each have their own list.
Videos stored only in iCloud are skipped until they're on your iPhone, to save data and battery.

Live Photos to still photos

A Live Photo keeps a short video next to the photo. If you don't need the motion, Shiny saves the photo as a new still, at full quality with its date, location, favourite and albums, and moves the original to Recently Deleted.

You lose the motion and any Loop, Bounce or Long Exposure effect.
The new photo isn't in Memories, Featured Photos or shared albums.
Edited Live Photos, Loop and Bounce, and photos stored only in iCloud are left alone.
The space comes back once Recently Deleted is emptied, or after 30 days.

Chat screenshots

Screenshots of conversations pile up fast. Shiny recognises screenshots of WhatsApp, Instagram and Messages chats and lists them together, so you can clear the ones you no longer need.

iCloud Drive duplicates

Choose a folder in iCloud Drive or on your iPhone, and Shiny finds the files that are exact copies of each other. Files are matched by their content, not their name.

Copies with names like "Report 2.pdf" are pointed out.
Files that aren't downloaded yet can be downloaded and checked.
See the largest files and old downloads too.
Shiny only sees the folder you choose.

Duplicate contacts

Shiny finds cards for the same person by name, phone number and email address.

Preview the merged card before you merge.
Cards in different accounts, such as iCloud and Gmail, can't be merged, but you can delete the extra cards.
A backup is saved before every cleanup, and Restore brings your contacts back as they were.
